Songs: Ode to Billie Joe

Not the sort of thing I usually like, but this is beautiful.   It's an old song, and quite a famous song, but I've only recently discovered it.   It's sad and picturesque and quirky and I like the simple music.   It does also intrigue me that we don't the full story.   It seems only Bobbie Gentry knows what the girl and Billie Joe threw off the Tallahatchie Bridge and why Billie Joe jumped off it, and she ain't telling.   Interestingly, the Tallahatchie Bridge was set on fire and collapsed in 1972.   Not the best quality video, but you get the idea.
